From late May to late July, the promotion of the remix album "Only Luv' – The Matt Pop Remixes" has been a notable focus in Dutch media. Following its initial release on CD and vinyl, the album, along with two associated singles, was also released on digital platforms, further expanding its reach.
Dutch and Flemish tabloids have prominently featured Luv', Marga Scheide, and José Hoebee. Marga has remained active in the spotlight, appearing at celebrity events, sharing glimpses of her Ibiza holiday, and participating in an in-depth interview with Ryan Gray on a Canadian university radio show, where she discussed her career and the group’s lasting impact.
José Hoebee, by contrast, continues to enjoy a quiet, provincial life in her hometown of Best, North Brabant. Retired from show business since Luv’s breakup in early 2020, she still maintains a warm connection with fans, occasionally receiving visitors and offering rare glimpses into her peaceful daily life.
Behind the Only Luv' project is Peter Boonstra, the driving force and initiator of the remix album. He was also interviewed during the promotional campaign, offering insights into the project's creation and its aim to celebrate Luv’s musical legacy for a new generation.
Tributes to the group have extended beyond music: CW Miniaturen Dolls presented new Luv' dolls. Meanwhile, former Luv' singer Carina Lemoine released a duet version of "Sarà Perché Ti Amo" with Dennis Burger.

On May 28, Marga Scheide, along with her DC Models friends Ger Valkenburg and Dyon Hagenaars, and Transavia purser and vlogger Vincent de Paauw, attended an event at Blend-XL Amsterdam to celebrate the announcement of the host city for "Roze Zaterdag" (Gay Pride) in 2027. Ger hosted the event, during which it was revealed that Pink Saturday 2027 would take place in Arnhem on Saturday, June 19, 2027.

Luv' in tabloids (Privé, Weekend & Story) after the Only Luv's release party (June 4, 2025)
Following the release party for the remix album "Only Luv': The Matt Pop Remixes," a project initiated by longtime fan Peter Boonstra, which took place at Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum on May 24, three of the Dutch major celebrity magazines, Privé, Weekend, and Story, published melodramatic articles.
Privé magazine (June 4, 2025): Dutch Gossip Magazine Focuses on José and Marga’s Tragedies—While the Luv’ Remix Album Gets Limited Coverage
Privé magazine’s June 4 issue provided some acknowledgment of Luv’s musical resurgence. However, it ultimately centered again on the grief and emotional challenges faced by José Hoebee and Marga Scheide. Over two-thirds of the article revisited well-known details of their past losses, offering little new insight for readers or fans.
A significant portion of the article centered on José’s ongoing mourning for her husband, record producer Will Hoebee, who passed away in 2012 from colon cancer at the age of 64. The couple had spent 33 years together, and José had often described their relationship as "deeply loving and inseparable." She reiterated a sentiment she had shared many times before: "I will never get over Will’s death. I’ll think about him until the day I die."
While she attempted to focus on the joyful memories they had created, the grief remained a constant presence. Will’s death followed news from doctors that further treatment was no longer possible. José lamented their lost retirement and the unfulfilled career plans her husband had envisioned. She also disclosed that after his passing, a childhood nervous tic—pulling her lips through her teeth—resurfaced, causing painful sores. Despite therapy and support, the tic persisted, rooted in unresolved trauma. This prolonged emotional and physical strain ultimately contributed to Luv’s disbandment in February 2020, when the lineup included José, Marga Scheide, and Chimène van Oosterhout.
The article also revisited the 2023 death of Marga’s partner, Michiel Gunning, who died of lung cancer after previously surviving colon cancer. He and Marga had been together for 18 years. His loss came two decades after the death of her former partner, Jacques Zwart, a record producer who died of a heart attack in 2003 at the age of 57.
José expressed deep empathy for Marga’s loss, noting that Marga had been a steady source of support during Will’s illness and after his passing. The enduring friendship between the ladies, formed nearly 50 years earlier when producer Hans van Hemert assembled Luv’, remained, in their view, the most meaningful outcome of their long music careers.
In contrast to José’s open expression of grief, Marga chose to process her sorrow privately. She avoided sharing her emotions in public and preferred to focus on living her life rather than dwelling on the past. "Michiel wanted me to have fun, to live. And that’s what I try to do now," she explained. Marga stated that she believed both Jacques and Michiel were still with her in spirit, offering comfort and guidance. While she had once thought she would never love again after Jacques, she found love with Michiel. As for the possibility of a third great love, she admitted she did not know, leaving it to fate and the universe.
Only a small section of Privé’s article addressed the "Only Luv" remix project itself. The new release stemmed from Peter Boonstra’s dedication as a lifelong fan. In 2015, Peter had published the group’s biography, "The Story of Luv’", which was later pulled from the market after a legal dispute involving a photographer, supported by Patty Brard, over unauthorized use of photos. The legal battle resulted in significant financial loss for Peter, but it did not deter his passion for the group.
Peter remained in contact with José and Marga and eventually proposed the remix concept, utilizing original master tapes preserved by Hans van Hemert. The group's original producer and creative architect agreed to collaborate shortly before his death last year.
In a noteworthy clarification, Peter confirmed what had long been rumored: all original vocals on Luv’s recordings were sung by José, Marga, and Patty themselves. No other backup singers were used, despite years of speculation.
At the album launch in Hilversum, Peter presented the first vinyl copy of "Only Luv’: The Matt Pop Remixes" to Tatiana and Hannah van Hemert, the daughters of the late producer, in tribute to their father's instrumental role in Luv’s creation and lasting legacy.

José Hoebee in Weekend magazine: "Patty was not THE star of the group" (June 4, 2025)
The June 4 issue of the Dutch tabloid magazine Privé ran yet another sensationalist piece, this time centering on José Hoebee and briefly mentioning the Only Luv' project.
José used the platform to respond directly to comments made by Shownieuws anchorwoman Dyantha Brooks, a close friend of Patty Brard. During the May 24 broadcast of the SBS6 entertainment program, Brooks remarked, following a segment on the Only Luv’ launch, "It’s still a pity that the big star of the group is missing," referring to La Brard’s absence.
Music expert Erik de Zwart, also on the panel, offered a counterpoint. José praised his response: "Erik gave a perfect explanation," she said. "Patty has always been the one who wanted to be in the spotlight the most. She wasn’t the star of the group. She did everything to be seen. Like Erik said, we each had our role. That’s what made Luv’ work, our differences matched perfectly."
Brooks went further, comparing Luv' to Destiny's Child by saying, "Every girl group has a Beyoncé," suggesting that Patty was the standout while José and Marga were merely backup. José responded with a laugh and a pointed reply: "Haha! She should have been in the studio to hear who the real backup singer was. And I’m not talking about Marga or myself. Marga and I are still friends because we’re content and happy. We never needed to be the center of attention, unlike Patty."
When Brooks concluded, "There’s always one big star in such groups," José offered a sharp rebuttal: "That’s ridiculous. I don’t want to sound arrogant, but I was chosen for the group because of my voice. I even refused to dye my hair blonde. That’s why Hans van Hemert picked Marga. Her voice, light and childlike, was crucial to Luv’s cheerful sound. Mine was stronger, more grounded. Together, our voices made Luv' unique."
When asked about Erik de Zwart’s claim that the original Luv' trio were approached to record a Christmas single that could spark a reunion, José was clear: "No, we stopped several years ago. I’m proud of my career, and I don’t want people to think I’m trying to crawl back into the spotlight. Marga feels the same way."

José Hoebee in Story Magazine on Her Grief Over Her Husband’s Death in 2012: “I’ve Never Been Able to Cry, Not Even Shed a Tear” (June 4)
Story magazine, like its rivals, shifted focus away from the music. Instead of meaningfully promoting Matt Pop’s remix project, the feature centered largely on José Hoebee’s personal tragedy, reinforcing the recurring narrative that she is only ever interviewed about the grief surrounding the death of her husband, Will Hoebee, which occurred over a decade ago.

Interview with Marga Scheide on History Repeating (June 19)
"History Repeating" is a Canadian university radio show hosted by Ryan Gray, a student of the RTA School of Media at Toronto Metropolitan University. The program focused on in-depth interviews with music legends from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
Two years ago, José Hoebee appeared as a guest on the show to discuss the legacy of Luv’, her solo career, and her Dutch-language ABBA covers recorded with Bonnie St. Claire.
On June 19, 2025, the show's long-awaited interview with Marga Scheide was finally uploaded to YouTube, despite being recorded a year earlier, prior to the group’s recent releases, "All You Need Is Luv’ – Remastered & Expanded Edition" and "Only Luv’ – The Matt Pop Remixes." Marga reflected on her selection to join Luv’, the group’s meteoric rise to fame across Europe, behind-the-scenes experiences from their tours and TV appearances, and her personal journey through stardom, reunions, and ultimately stepping away from the spotlight.
Marga Scheide and Dutch celebrities at the release party of Jan Uriot's book "Onze Lieve Stad" (June 20)
On June 20, Jan Uriot, a gossip columnist for Privé, presented his book "Onze Lieve Stad" at the Rembrandt House Museum in Amsterdam. This book explores 750 years of Amsterdam's history, highlighting both famous and lesser-known locals. Several Dutch celebrities attended the event, including Marga Scheide, Imca Marina, Mick Harren, and Marijke Helwegen.
The July 1 issue of Privé magazine featured coverage of this showbiz event. During the party, Marga Scheide, who was photographed with event manager Dennis van Zwol, shared her thoughts on Amsterdam: "Bos en Lommer was a brand-new neighborhood when I moved in with my parents. So much has changed over the years. I still visit occasionally, but I no longer recognize it. My neighborhood is gone, and my childhood home is no longer there. Unfortunately, Amsterdam is no longer my city. The city council is making decisions that upset many residents. You shouldn't be running a city like that if you’re not from there yourself. The mentality has changed, too. Many residents are easily annoyed; if you greet someone, they think you're up to no good. I find that disappointing."

You're the Greatest Lover on De Foute 1500 and De Foute 728 (Qmusic)
On June 20, Dutch radio station Qmusic revealed its much-anticipated list titled De Foute 1500, featuring the 1500 kitschiest pop tracks of all time. This ranking is widely regarded as representing the greatest musical guilty pleasures in pop history. This year, "You’re the Greatest Lover" by Luv' secured the 503rd position. In contrast, last year, this iconic anthem reached #343, marking a significant 160-position drop.

Moreover, Qmusic's Flemish sister station also set up its own list of kitsch classics named "De Foute 728" and revealed it on June 23. "You're the Greatest Lover" reached #525. Last year, it peaked at #422, which means it lost 93 positions in one year.

José enjoying la Dolce Vita in Brabantian Best (June 21 and July 10)
Since Luv’s breakup in early 2020, José has retired from show business, limiting her public appearances and giving only occasional interviews. She now lives a peaceful life in her hometown of Best, North Brabant, where she warmly welcomes visits from fans and friends.
On June 21, Jos Theuns and Jennifer Bostelaar paid a visit to the former pop singer.

Marga Scheide in Story's Prominentenpanel (June 25 and July 16)
In the June 25 and July 16 issues of Story magazine, Marga Scheide participated in a celebrity panel discussing current topics in the Dutch entertainment industry.
In the June 25 issue, she was asked whether siblings, Roxeanne and André Hazes, would make good coaches on The Voice of Holland. Marga replied: "Yes. Roxeanne is more extroverted, and André is more introverted. They could make a strong team on a talent show like that. They complement each other well. I think it’s a good idea for them to work together."

In the July 16 issue, the panel reacted to the controversy surrounding Sam Hagens and Welmoed Sijtsma, who were initially supposed to co-host the talk show Goedenavond Nederland throughout the summer. However, both opted to go on holiday earlier than planned, resulting in only one of them presenting the program, which sparked criticism. When asked if that criticism was deserved, Marga responded: "Yes. If you make an agreement, you have to stick to it—otherwise, the agreement has no meaning. But I still wish them a nice holiday."

José Hoebee in Dag Allemaal: "Crying over Will would help me, but I can't do it" (June 27, 2025)
The June 27 issue of the Flemish magazine Dag Allemaal featured an article about José. Unfortunately, the piece is disappointing, relying on the same sensationalist tactics typical of similar Dutch publications. Instead of meaningfully covering the recent release of All You Need is Luv' and Only Luv'—available on CD and as a double vinyl in blue and pink—the article only vaguely refers to the “recent release of four LPs,” without mentioning any titles. It instead rehashes familiar tabloid tropes: José’s ongoing health struggles since her husband's passing in 2012 and her long-standing feud with Patty Brard. As usual, José and Luv' serve as fodder for Dutch and Flemish tabloids—outlets more interested in personal drama than in the group’s music.

Privé magazine: Hans van Hemert's daughters look back on the final hours of their legendary father (July 2, 2025)
The July 2 issue of Privé magazine featured an interview with Tatiana and Hannah van Hemert, daughters of Luv's creator, who passed away last year.

Peter Boonstra in "De Limburger" (July 22, 2025)

The July 22 edition of the Dutch local newspaper "De Limburger" featured an article about Peter Boonstra, who developed the "Only Luv'" project.

Interview with Peter Boonstra on the Radio 10 show "Gijs op 10" (July 24, 2024)
On July 24, Gijs Staverman welcomed Peter Boonstra to his afternoon radio show "Gijs op 10", broadcast on Radio 10. Peter, the driving force behind the new remix album Only Luv', discussed the project’s background and its connection to the group’s legacy.
When asked about the troubled release of his 2015 biography The Story of Luv', Peter recalled: "One of the photographers objected to the use of his photos, so I was forced to destroy all the copies of the book."
Turning to the origins of the Only Luv' project, he explained: "With the book came a CD compilation of Luv’s greatest hits, including two remixes that I really liked. I knew Hans van Hemert had original master tapes in his archive. They clearly separated the vocals and instrumentals—you could hear every detail. I thought: how amazing would it be to create a new album using those tapes?"
He emphasized that Luv’s iconic producer, Hans van Hemert, often referred to as the "Godfather of Luv’", was fully aware of and supportive of the remix project before his passing: "He was really enthusiastic. Every time we spoke, he’d say, ‘Your enthusiasm makes me enthusiastic. I really like what you’re doing.’ It was a true honor."
Peter noted that former Luv’ members José and Marga both backed the initiative and were pleased with the final result.
During the interview, Staverman addressed a long-standing rumor about the group’s vocals, asking: "You heard the a cappella tracks. Can you confirm whether it was only José who could sing?" Peter was quick to clarify: "That’s not true. José’s voice was the most prominent, yes, but they sang everything themselves. Marga's voice was essential. It gave the songs a bright, happy tone. Patty is definitely present on the recordings and contributed backing vocals. Hans van Hemert and Piet Souer supported them in the studio, and Piet could sing the high parts."
Peter closed the interview on a hopeful note, hinting at the possibility of a follow-up to the Only Luv’ project.
