Luv' record sales can be classified as claimed, verified, certified, or estimated.

Claimed Sales: These are sales figures reported by the artist, their management, or their record label without independent verification.

Verified Sales: These figures have been independently confirmed by a reliable third party, such as a music industry organization, auditing firm, or trade publication. Verification typically involves checking actual sales data from distributors, retailers, or streaming platforms to ensure accuracy.

Certified Sales: These are officially recognized by authoritative bodies (like NVPI in the Netherlands or BVMI in Germany). Certifications—Silver, Gold, Platinum—are awarded based on specific sales thresholds and are backed by audited data, making them highly reliable.

Estimated Sales: These are approximate figures derived from incomplete or indirect data, such as market trends, partial sales reports, or industry analysis. For Luv', these estimates are primarily based on comparing the chart points of Luv' records—whose exact sales figures are unavailable but whose chart runs are known—with the verified or certified sales of their other records from the same period. This internal comparison allows for a more consistent estimation framework. When a direct comparison within Luv’s own catalog is not possible, the estimates rely on the verified or certified sales of contemporary acts (including ABBA, the Grease soundtrack, Village People, Bee Gees, Amanda Lear, Boney M., etc.) that appeared on the same charts. Combined with benchmarks such as chart points, chart longevity, market conditions, and IFPI reports, these methods provide a historically credible approximation of the group’s commercial performance.

These claimed, verified, certified, and estimated sales figures reflect the period during which the records were present on the charts. Some countries only published rankings up to the Top 10, Top 40, Top 50, or Top 100. Once a record dropped out of these charts, it inevitably continued to sell, meaning that a small portion of its total sales is untraceable, suggesting that the final sales figures may be higher than those reported.

Luv' achieved greater success on the singles charts—particularly significant in the music industry during the late 1970s—than on the album charts, largely because their early fan base consisted mainly of teenagers, who were more likely to purchase vinyl singles than full albums.
