Two days ago, Dutch media personality Tanja Jess posted a message on Instagram informing that her friend, Chimène van Oosterhout, had been urgently admitted to the hospital in Athens, Greece, due to heart failure.
Tanja and Chimène were on holiday on the Greek island of Kos, where the former Veronica TV host suddenly became unwell. Chimène's heart failure was caused by residual damage from chemotherapy.
The ex-Luv' singer was taken to a hospital in Athens by ambulance flight on July 7th. 'She is in good hands here, so we hope for a good outcome', Tanja writes.
Chimène was treated for the third time for breast cancer in 2020. She publicly revealed her disease in March 2021 when she announced the broadcast of her documentary series entitled "K*T Kanker" (F***ing Cancer in Dutch). In this documentary, in seven episodes, the courageous and talented celebrity showed her life as a cancer patient. Since the summer of 2021, she has been writing columns about her fight against breast cancer and other health-related subjects for WendyOnline.nl (Wendy van Dijk's online platform specialized in women's issues). Chimène has been raising public awareness about cancer in interviews in the press, on TV and podcasts for over a couple of years.
Immediately after the announcement of Chimène's hospital admission, the Dutch media (including the websites of De Telegraaf, AD, Margriet, RTL Boulevard, Party, Mediacourant, Linda, Story, Weekend, NU...) reported the sad news.
Patty Brard and her team discussed this tragedy on the July 8th edition of SBS6's infotainment news program "Shownieuws" which drew 511.000 viewers (market share: 24.8%).
Luv' fan Martin Vink let us know that today's edition of AD newspaper features a short article about Chimène van Oosterhout.
Yesterday, De Telegraaf's website announced that Chimène's health was getting a little better. She was able to walk a bit on Sunday. A return trip home is not planned for the time being, her spokesperson told the ANP (Holland's largest news agency) when asked.
