Today’s edition of De Telegraaf (August 9, 2025) features an article in its “Zomer” (Summer) supplement, in which Patty Brard shares her favorite spots in Almere Duin, her home since early 2023. Click here to read the article online.

From all the former Luv' singers, the larger-than-life media personality is the one who is the most in the spotlight.
Earlier this year, the diva celebrated her 70th birthday with a spectacular Panther Party at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome, joined by fellow artists. The evening reached its peak when she and some former members of rival girl groups — Maywood, Dolly Dots, Babe, Mai Tai, Centerfold, and Frizzle Sizzle — united on stage to perform a medley of their classic hits.
A couple of months ago, La Brard was one of the contestants on the second season of "Stars on Stage", a Dutch television talent show broadcast on RTL 4, featuring eight Dutch celebrities trained to become musical theatre stars. Though she was eliminated in episode 5, she considered "Stars on Stage" a great learning experience. Even the respected media critic Angela de Jong wrote a glowing column about her performance in AD.
Her latest project, "Datecast," is a podcast she hosts where singles search for love using only their voice.
Patty relaxes in her lovely home in Almere Duin. "The moment you enter the neighborhood, you immediately get that holiday feeling," the TV star tells De Telegraaf.
Ideal place to live
"I don’t just live in a nice house in Almere Duin, but also in a fantastic environment. Our house is detached and stands on an artificial dune. We’re surrounded by wonderful neighbors who are always there for each other. If you’re sick, there will be a pot of soup at your door by the afternoon. We have each other’s house keys, and if someone’s car has an issue, they just borrow the neighbor’s for a while," Patty explains. "It’s that old Dutch feeling of leaving a string hanging out of the mailbox. Kids come and go, take the dogs for walks, and in the afternoon, they drop by for a cup of tea in their own special mug, which has a designated spot in Aunt Patty’s candy drawer," she adds.
Enjoying a terrace
"At the terrace right in Duin itself, you’ll find my favorite restaurant, "Dunes," and my favorite coffee and ice cream shop, "Mint". Tasty, affordable, and you’re welcome there even in flip-flops," Patty says.
Walking on the beach
"I love walking around the house and on Almeerderstrand, with the dogs and the neighborhood kids, or with my daughter and her four dogs. I also enjoy spending time outdoors with my friends," the ex-Luv' lady asserts.
Working out with a view
"Skyline Fitness overlooks the beach and Lake IJsselmeer. It’s not a dark basement but a fresh space, with a sauna, pedicure, and beauty salon. Conveniently next to the supermarket, so I do my grocery shopping on the way back. Or I stop by Warung Mere for some delicious Surinamese food," the Prima Donna shares.
Best hairdresser
"I found the best hairdresser in the Netherlands right here in Almere through my friend Dyantha Brooks. They’re called Shay4Beauty, they’re top-notch at hair extensions and styling, and lots of Dutch celebrities go there. And there’s always plenty of laughter," the Shownieuws expert mentions.
Music—at home
"Sometimes there’s an open-air concert in Duin, but it’s so loud that I actually prefer enjoying it at home," she comments.
Finding peace
"I unwind on my veranda on my dune, surrounded by marram grass and a gentle breeze. I have to admit, I even enjoy autumn here, and Christmas even more. My husband Antoine decorates the trees around the house with so many lights that it looks like an enchanted forest. Everyone loves to come and take a picture of themselves and their children in the fairy-tale forest," Patty concludes.
