On August 28th, the Dutch audience measurement company, Nationaal Media Onderzoek, started to publish 'total video audience data" with enhanced insights into what viewers watch, including in-home online video consumption and media behaviour on smart TVs, tablets, smartphones, and computers in addition to regular TV viewing figures. The definitive viewing figures are not communicated daily but weekly.

Among the items Patty and her Shownieuws colleagues discussed:

* La Brard not a fan of Fidan Ekiz (August 11th)

Hélène Hendriks hosted the last episode of SBS6's sports talk show "De Oranjezomer" on August 11th. Her team members were asked to say something nice about her on this occasion. TV personality Fidan Ekiz, part of De Oranjezomer's crew, refused to appear on camera to congratulate Hélène Hendricks.

"We called Fidan Ekiz earlier today, but she didn't have time to react because it was not about her," Patty said. Instead, the former Luv' singer appreciated Hélène. "Modesty is the secret of her success," Patty added. The Shownieuws diva admired how Hélène attracted many TV viewers on De Oranjezomer. "Some people say that this TV program didn't face serious competitors, but it's hard to captivate viewers and get good reviews. Hélène is very talented," Miss Brard explained.

* Mart Hoogkamer cancels his appearance on Shownieuws (August 11th)

Dutch singer Mart Hoogkamer was supposed to appear on the August 11th edition of Shownieuws to celebrate the end of his burnout but cancelled his participation at the last moment. "He was meant to be with us today because tomorrow he will be performing for the first time after a ten-week sick leave due to his burnout. His management and Aunt Patty forbade him from being on TV," La Brard said. "I spoke to him. He was yelling on the phone again today. He was excited and enthusiastic as Wolter Kroes. I told him: 'Make sure you save your voice for your shows instead of shouting". He was very cheerful but suddenly became very nervous when I started talking about his comeback in Woerden. He wanted to join us here on Shownieuws, but he didn't dare to do it because he had to sleep," Patty added.

Bas Smit and Nicolette van Dam (August 12th)

Dutch entrepreneur and influencer Bas Smit and media personality Nicolette van Dam are happily married and have two daughters. The famous couple exposed their privacy on social media, which caused jealousy and many comments from followers and haters. Recently, they attended Ed Sheeran's private performance and discussed it on Instagram. Patty defended them. The Prima Donna liked the fact that they bragged about this private show. "Bas told on social media that he attended this special concert. I'm sure it will generate comments like "Look! Here they are again! Sitting arrogantly on that island". I think it's great that he posted it and had such a good time," Patty said.

Patty Brard votes for the "Gouden Televizier-Ring" (Dutch TV awards) for the first time (August 19th)

The TV star, who has been active on the small screen for more than 40 years, explained that she would vote for the "Gouden Televizier-Ring" (Dutch TV awards) for the first time. She chose RTL4's reality show "B&B Vol Liefde" as "the best TV program of the year".

Ducan Laurence refuses to talk to the press (August 20th)

Duncan Laurence recently married American songwriter Jordan Garfield and released a new single. The winner of the 2019 ESC refuses to give interviews in the press.

Glennis Grace suffers from the new Whitney Houston tribute act (August 20th)

After her legal problems due to her assault on Jumbo supermarket employees last year in Amsterdam, Glennis Grace wants to rehabilitate her public image. The talented singer received worldwide attention due to the similarity between her voice and Whitney Houston's. Now that her situation is improving, she has to face competition with a South African Whitney Houston tribute act: Belinda Davids. Theatres have booked Davids, who took part in Britain’s Got Talent, for a tour through the Netherlands in autumn. "Glennis has always wanted to focus on her own material, and she didn't really want to be a Whitney Houston impersonator. If you listen to her music on Spotify, you notice that her best-streamed songs are all covers," Patty analyzed. "She doesn't really have a big hit of her own. After the Jumbo incident, she could no longer work here in Holland, and in the end, she went to Jerusalem to sing Whitney Houston covers. She gave a big concert there on May 17th. And now it appears that someone who has won Britain's Got Talent as Whitney is coming to the Netherlands, namely Belinda Davids. She is 46 years old and comes from South Africa. She is going to go on tour through Belgium and the Netherlands and will therefore sing Whitney Houston material," Patty added.

Martien Meiland's parking lot sex is not a problem (August 25th)

Patty Brard had no problem with the revelation that Dutch reality TV star Martien Meiland engaged in parking lot sex. "I love the Meilands. I think it's a wonderful family, and I don't care about anyone who makes fun of Martien. I think he's a wonderful and genuine person. When it comes to his sex life, everything has already been said, and we don't need to tell anything else about it anymore," Patty commented.

Shownieuws discussing gossip about "B&B Vol Liefde" (August 26th, August 28th)

* Heleen van Royen's latest novel "Juice" about celebrity gossip channels (September 4th)

* Reinout Oerlemans' new luxury house in Hollywood (September 4th)

* Rumours about singers performing at the Super Bowl 2024 Halftime Show: Harry Styles? Justin Bieber? Taylor Swift? Cher? Miley Cyrus? Dua Lipa? (September 4th)

* Leontine Ruiters responds to gossip about extreme laziness (September 5th)

TV personality Leontine Ruiters recently gave an interview in Nouveau magazine in which she responded to gossip about her extreme laziness. It appears that she was more depressed than lazy following the controversy surrounding her husband, Marco Borsato, who fell into disgrace in late 2021 after claims of sexual misconduct with underage girls who were contestants on "The Voice Kids".

Leontien had an affair with John Huiberts earlier this year. "She also had a short fling with someone, right? I forgot his name, but he made the derogatory statement that she was very lazy and always lay in bed," Patty said.

* Xess Xava meets his idol Messi (September 5th)

Dutch media personality Yolanthe Cabau, Wesley Sneijder's ex-wife, arranged a meeting between her son Xess Xava and his football idol Lionel Messi. Patty praised Yolanthe for being a good mother.

* Patty Brard breaks all ties with Yolanthe Cabau's charity (September 8th)

After being very positive about Yolanthe, Patty surprised yesterday the Shownieuws viewers when she explained that she ended her relationship with her charity.

The former Luv' member complained about Miss Cabau and her "Free A Girl" foundation, which will celebrate its fifteenth anniversary at the end of the month. Patty was invited to this charity gala on this occasion. "I thought: "How sweet that she thinks of me". Her invitation said: "Everyone has to pay a thousand euros to get in there, but of course not you, because you are a friend of Yo and her foundation". I was ready to pay those thousand euros. Then, two days ago, I received an email saying that I could come in and be placed among all the people who paid. I had to sign a strict confidentiality agreement, and I was not allowed to tell what would happen this evening to keep the people's privacy and what they donate," Patty explained. If the diva reveals details about this charity gala in the media, she must pay a €5.000 fine. This rule made her furious.
